Parent Support within Couples Therapy
Every stage - from family planning to parenthood - brings both beauty and struggle. It’s easy to get disconnected when navigating this stage of life. Reconnect and deepen your bond in couples therapy.
I work from an evidence-based couples therapy approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT/EFCT). EFT is grounded in attachment theory & promotes creating a secure attachment with yourself, with your partner, and between you and your children.
Family planning & parenthood seem to constantly throw us curveballs. It’s a total identity shift and can bring up a lot of unexpected, big emotions. It’s not uncommon for family planning & parenthood to activate parts of ourselves we aren’t familiar with. It can be really overwhelming.
It’s extremely easy to become disconnected during this time.
We can learn a lot about ourselves & our relationship when parenting. Learn how to be emotionally available to yourself & to your partner so you can be emotionally available to your children. Let me help you lighten the load & get reconnected.
Together, we can navigate:
Grief & Loss
The emotional impact of miscarriage, infertility, or loss of a child.
Parenting Stress & Overload
Feeling overwhelmed by daily responsibilities and/or lack of support.
Frequent conflict about parenting styles, responsibilities, and roles.
Relationship Strain After Becoming Parents
Loss of connection or intimacy since trying to conceive and/or having children
Difficulty balancing time for each other and parenting demands
Division of Labor / Mental Load Imbalance
Postpartum Adjustment
Extended Family or In-law Conflict
Sexual Intimacy
Changes in desire, physical discomfort, or emotional connection after children.
Life Transitions
Adding another child, moving, job changes, returning to work, etc.
*As a fellow parent, I know scheduling another appointment can feel daunting. I’m happy to work with you on this. If it’s easier, feel free to schedule a virtual appointment during nap time, after morning drop off, after bedtime, etc. If your baby is 12 months or younger, they are welcome to join us!
